Step Up 2 The Streets

This movie is all about 2 things - if you discount the navel. If you include “the navel” then it’s about 3 things - Noise, Movement and the Navel.

Which isn’t to say that the movie is bad, in fact I actually really liked it - especially the navel. The navel of Briana Evigan.

So, the movie could really have absolutely no story whatsoever as the one it does have is so paper thin that tissue paper is slightly weightier. But the music, the dancing, and “the navel” all serve to make this movie something quite emotionally brilliant.

Loved it. Well, more than I thought I would anyway.

8/10

Not clever… the last 7 days.

Last Friday was the twentysix Leeds first year anniversary party, photos of which can be seen on Flickr and there’s a little video over on youTube too. Anyway, on that night I was a little drunk. Then on Saturday I was a little drunk too, then on Monday I was a little drunk, then on Tuesday I was a little drunk, then on Wednesday I was a little drunk… And then I almost had last night off - but still had a couple of pints before going home from work. Anyway, this morning I woke up and my body was screaming at me - it turns out the hangovers that have been quite moderate for the last 6 days have all come at once this morning and so I decided to add up all the units I’ve had all week and see how dead my liver is - not by way of “Wow, I’m soo tough”, more by way of “I don’t want to die you need to stop drinking on weekdays you clown”.

The grand total the the last 7 days is…

2 Peroni
5 Glasses of Champagne
3 Red Wines
32 Vodkas
15 Pints of Cider

With an alcoholic point value of 106. With the internet telling me the average number of units days should be 3 for a man, I’m thinking that my 15 a day probably means I should stop drinking until June.

Really… is it having a laugh?

Why would I do that?

Of course the stupid thing is that I then accidently clicked “yes”. Idiot.

Museum decides to call it a day..

Or at least that’s what it looked like when I took a walk to the “rough” end of Leeds on Saturday. In stark contrast to the bustling city centre, the top end of town sports some truly fantastic little “boutiques” where looking at the cashier in the wrong way is the first step in what could lead to an ugly demise.

Anyway, as I walked past one of these “computer exchange” throwbacks, I noticed a strange sight in the window…

For Sale... One careful previous ownerYes, a Sega Saturn… I was at first surprised, and then perplexed at who in their right mind expected to get 35 quid for a console that is almost older than many of my nephews and nieces - especially given only the handful of games being bundled with it. Then my eyes went up… and I caught a glimpse of the future…

The dreamy dreamcast...Or at least it was the future when the Sega Saturn was released! Yes, a fully working (I think) Sega Dreamcast… the first ever 64 bit console released by any console maker… I owned one of these back in 1998! Bought it on the night they were released in the UK, and they were truly amazing… showing up all that had come before as tame attempts - but 50 quid? And only bundled with a couple of titles? I don’t think so… My eyes continued to wander until I found the grand-daddy… literally.

It's a Megadrive / Genesis... And it's OLD!Only a sodding Mega Drive… predating both the Saturn and Dreamcast, this baby was the arch-nemesis of my favourite console of all time, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System - or SNES. IT was great in its day, but its day was over 20 years ago and to ask for 40 quid for it and 7 games is tantamount to delirium on the part of whoever priced it.

Finally, head in hands I was on the verge of walking off - when this beauty caught my eye… And I realised the people inside were truly crazy.

The lonely Nintendo... all alone in a mass of Sega'sA Nintendo 64 - for only 70 quid. You can buy Wii’s for not much more than that! You can get playstation II’s for really not much more than that! You can get a PSP for about that… So, I walked away, and wondered what those people had been inhaling…

So, opinion… what’s the biggest rip off in the window?
