Eight! Really?

Yes, this week has seen the release of IE8 for Windows. Am I the only one who thinks that in looks, features, and pretty much everything else it feels more like a 7.1?
The layout of the screen elements is the same as IE7, the menus all seem to have remained mostly the same, the About Screen looks remarkable exactly the same as previously… just with an 8 replacing the 7. Beyond all that, I’ve yet to find a single site which is broken in IE8 - I’ve not been looking for hours or anything, but the thirty or fourty sites that I’ve been browsing are all fully functional… and it upsets me.
Okay, so the accelarators are kinda cool, but they’re actually just a copy of my idea for mipTV back in 2006 - must have been someone from the Microsoft IE team in the audience is all I can say- Rich Right Click stolen from under my nose.
S0, as a web developer you just expect any new release of IE to break everything that you’ve worked on the past forever - and well, it hasn’t. And I’m very distraught.
And to top everything off, to take the jumbo sized biscuit, it’s as slow as ever… yes, it’s not Firefox opening slow (what is - oh yeah, Safari), but it’s still fairly amazingly slow… to slow to be used on a daily basis anyway. S0, back to Chrome it is.
