The assault continues #LeedsDigitalFestival

So, I’ve been having a few more thoughts, and the more I think about it, the more either…

a) The Leeds Digital Festival is called the wrong thing, or…
b) The target audience for the Leeds Digital Festival should be re-evaluated

My personal preference is b, because as per my last post on The Leeds Digital Festival I don’t understand the target, and the name doesn’t at all speak to what will be happening for the 4 days. What do I mean? Well, it strikes me it should be “The Leeds People Who Build Websites Festival” if the line up of events and rhetoric on the website is to be believed. And well, I don’t really think it should be…

I think that we should be harnessing the power of everyone who has even the slightest interest in “digital” as a medium, platform or way of life. So not just people who build websites - but people who write blogs, people who take photographs, people who USE digital in their day to day lives - hell, even students on digital web design and development courses.

All this goes back to my honest belief that the whole thing hasn’t been thought about. The target seems so sliver thin as to preclude many of the people who should be really making the #LDF the great event that it should be.

IMO of course.
