Worst. “Customer”. Service. EVER!
I’m not afraid to admit that I don’t really have the best credit record, and that when I apply for credit I usually expect to be declined, I’m used to it and I live my life around that central premise.
Every now and then however I do try to apply for credit to buy mid-priced items which I want; such an event happened this past Friday when I spontaneously on the back of an engadget article decided that I NEEDED a Mac Book Pro. So I fired up the Apple store, picked the model I wanted it, customised it up to the 2.5k system that I knew I needed, and hit the “finance” button.
I filled out the form, all the time thinking that it was a bad idea, and got to the end where I was told I was provisionally approved. Fireworks, bells and trumpets went off in my head - and while it said that they might need to contact me to clarify some information I was in good spirits.
Saturday rolled around and no one had contacted me, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday… and so I decided to call them to see why no one had been in touch.
Apparently, Barclay’s Loans for Apple are so run off their feet that unless you are approved, they just ignore you. That’s right, the chap on the other end of the phone, who was completely matter of fact and completely unapologetic, informed me that I’d been declined credit (again) and that surprisingly they don’t tell anyone this unless they phone them.
Am I alone in thinking that this level of “customer” service is abysmal?
